BRITISH CYCLING NATIONAL MASTERS TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

Welcome to the homepage for the Masters National track Championships 2024 hosted and promoted by Full Gas Cycling. We are proud to have been awarded these championships for the next three years and whilst we will be making some subtle changes this year, we hope we can carry on the exceptional work by Graham Bristow and his team over the last fifteen years or so. The championships will also remain at the Geraint Thomas National velodrome of Wales in Newport so you should feel quite at home!

The programme will remain mostly unchanged, we did apply to British Cycling to add a championship team pursuit, sprint and elimination races, however, these were only approved as test events and we feel that entries would be fairly low if they were held in this form as riders will focus on medal opportunities.

We are making two changes which are quite significant and will release further details on these over the next few days, however, rest assured that these can, if you choose, have absolutely no impact on your racing. Please see below for further information.

PREMIUM PENS

We are significantly changing the track centre layout. The next change will be sure to cause some discussion, but if you read fully and understand what we are trying to achieve, hopefully all will be clear and for those that do not want any change, that is easily achievable.

The rider pen layout will be similar to before, but there will now be two options. There will be a general open plan pen layout where as before you can lock and leave your kit overnight, as always at your own risk. A change for this year will be the option to purchase a premium pen. The premium pens will feature access to power and be located closer to the entrance and track gate. Any riders using the general pens accept that although you can lock your equipment in that pen, if you are not occupying that pen, other riders are welcome to set up in that pen for their event. Premium pens are only to be occupied by those riders that have purchased them. For the sake of clarity, there will still be plenty of free to use pens as before, we are trialling this system in anticipation of hosting a larger event where the space is usually at a premium and frustration over large pens being taken over and then empty for much of the competition time. The cost for a premium pen is just £5 per rider per day, To reserve your premium pen click HERE

MEDAL CEREMONIES

To keep the racing moving and limit track down time, we will be presenting morning session medals during the lunch break and afternoon session medals in the evening once racing has finished.

CATERING

In previous years lunch and evening meal options have been very limited with no on site catering and so for 2024 we will be bringing in outside catering companies to combat this. During the day Marks Kitchen will be providing baguettes, wraps, salads & pasta bowls and in the evening will be hosting a pasta party.

We are trying to create more of a social atmosphere after racing where everyone can catch up and chat outside the pressure of racing in our rider lounge.

Options will be available to purchase on the day, however these will be limited. Pre-order to avoid disappointment!

CHILL OUT AND CATCH UP

We are trying to create more of a social atmosphere after racing where everyone can catch up and chat outside of the pressure of racing, we are currently negotiating with various specialist retailers to use the track time in the evening for some testing, this may be try before you buy equipment testing, aero testing or clothing testing, as soon as we have these plans finalised along with any booking procedures we will update those here. The far end of the track will  be having a rider lounge area where you can chill out and catch up with friends while watching the racing in comfort. This area will double as the presentation and dining area.
